Samsung:
  • All Samsung S20 FE/S21 FE models 
  • Samsung S20/S21 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G from USA 
  • Samsung Note 20 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 from USA and Hong Kong 

Google:
  • Pixel 3 models manufactured from Australia, Taiwan, and Japan 
  • Pixel 3 models bought from US or Canadian carriers other than Sprint and Google Fi 
  • Pixel 3a models bought in South East Asia and with Verizon service
My device is not on the compatible list and I want to know if I can use eSIM with my device.

If you have following devices, you can’t use eSIM with your device.

iPhone models don’t support eSIM:
  • iPhone that is carrier-locked
  • iPhone Purchased from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao ** (** Hong Kong and Macao versions have exceptions that support eSIM such as iPhone XS, iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation only) iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini.)
  • iPhone 6 
  • iPhone 7 series 
  • iPhone 8 series 
  • iPhone X 
  • iPhone SE 1 Generation
Samsung models don’t support eSIM:
  • Samsung device that is carrier-locked
  • All Samsung S20 FE/S21 FE models (People mostly get confused, since other S20 & S21 models can be compatible with eSIM.)
  • USA versions of Samsung S20/S21 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G
  • USA and Hong Kong versions of the Samsung Note 20 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2
  • South Korea versions of most Samsung devices (Devices released after Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 are eSIM compatible.)
  • Canada and the USA version of Samsung S21 series devices (except for FE models) may have eSIM capability as long as the One UI 4 update is installed. 7)
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 9, Note 10, Note 10+ or Note Lite
  • Samsung Galaxy S10, S10e, S10 Lite or S10+
  • Samsung S9 or S9+

How do I check if my device supports eSIM?

If your device supports eSIM, you will need to find its Secondary “IMEI” number for eSIM by following the steps below:

For Apple Users:
  1. Go to [Settings]
  2. Scroll down to view the device’s Serial Number and IMEI for your primary and secondary sim cards
  3. If you have 2 IMEI numbers, your device supports eSIM
For Samsung Users:
  1. Go to [Settings]
  2. If you see a search bar in [Settings], type in “IMEI”, and the option “IMEI information” (or similar) should show up (otherwise, you will need to go to [About phone] – [Status])
  3. Tap [IMEI information] If the “IMEI (eSIM)” is displayed, it means that your device supports eSIM.

For Other Android:
  1. Dial *#06# and press call
  2. In case your device is eSIM-enabled, you should be able to view your device’s eSIM unique identification number (EID)
Can I purchase eSIM prior to the trip?
You have the flexibility to buy our eSIM either before you leave or upon arrival.
However, it's crucial not to immediately scan and set up the eSIM. The activation time can differ based on the plan selected. 
Some plans activate immediately upon scanning, while others activate when connected to a local network. Always refer to the product details for specific activation guidelines.
Can I use hotspots/tethering to share data?
Yes, tethering and data sharing via hotspots are supported with our eSIM. However, when sharing data with a laptop, you might notice reduced speeds. The eSIM is optimized for mobile device usage, ensuring smoother data sharing between mobile devices.
What currency is the price based on?
All our transactions are conducted in euros (€).
What should I do, when I didn’t receive a QR code email?

Our QR code is sent automatically to the email that you’ve written in the order form. 
It takes less than 15 minutes to receive a QR code via email. 
If you haven’t received your email, please check the followings below : 
  • Please check your promotion or spam folder first. 
  • If you made an order via iDEAL or other methods, it takes several minutes to hours. (We don’t know the exact time, because every case was different, and it is up to iDEAL.) We have several customers process their payment with an iDEAL that has a delay in processing the order.If you need your plan urgently, if you can do it, please request a refund with your previous order on your end and place an order directly via PayPal. 
  • You may have included a typo in the email address that you’ve written in the order form. Since our email will be sent to you automatically, your email couldn’t be sent because of this matter. Please let us know the correct email address via admin@esimfox.com , so that we can resend it to you as soon as possible.
When does the eSIM plan start?

The beginning of the validity varies depending on the specific plan you choose
For some plans, it may start as soon as you scan the QR code and install the eSIM, while for others, it might start only after the eSIM is connected to a local network. Therefore, we recommend carefully checking the product page for more detailed information.
How do I activate my eSIM plan on my phone?

We will send you a confirmation email with a QR code after your purchase is completed.
There are 2 ways to add an eSIM to your device (please note that these steps may differ depending on your device & language.)
To activate the plan, you need to be connected in the strong WiFi signal and not in Airplane Mode.

For Apple Users:
A. Activate by scanning the QR code:
  1. Go to [Settings] – Tap [Cellular/Mobile Data]
  2. Tap [Add Cellular Plan] or [Add eSIM]
  3. Tap [Scan QR Code] and scan the QR code that you received via email.
  4. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation
A. Activate by scanning the QR code:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Cellular/Mobile Data] – [Add Cellular Plan/eSIM] – [Scan QR code] – [Enter Details Manually]
  2. Enter ‘SM-DP+ Address’ and ‘Activation Code’ information provided in the email
  3. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation.
For Samsung Users:
A. Activate by scanning the QR code:
  1. Go to [Settings]– [Connections] – [SIM Card Manager] – [Add a Mobile Plan]
  2. Go to [Scan Carrier QR code]
  3. Scan the QR Code that you received via email
  4. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation
B. Activate by typing manual information:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [SIM Card Manager] – [Add a Mobile Plan]
  2. Go to [Scan Carrier QR code] – Tap [Enter Activation code]
  3. Type the ‘Activation Code’ that is provided in the email
  4. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation.
For Google Users:
A. Activate by scanning the QR code:
  1. Go to the [Settings] – [Network & Internet] – Tap + icon next to Mobile Network.
  2. Tap on [Download a SIM instead] – [Next]
  3. Scan the QR Code that you received via email.
  4. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation.
B. Activate by typing manual information:
  1. Go to the [Settings] – [Network & Internet] – Tap + icon next to Mobile Network
  2. Tap on [Download a SIM instead] – [Next] – [Need help?]
  3. Tap on [Enter Data Manually], Type the ‘Activation Code’ that is provided in the email
  4. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation.
I’m worried about international roaming charges. How can I prevent any accidental usage of international roaming?

To prevent unintended data usage, label your physical SIM card (Domestic Plan) [Primary] and select [Secondary] for the “eSIM plan” at the time of installation.
Also, to block data usage based on a physical SIM card in advance, turn the [Cellular Data Switching] Off.

For Apple Users:
Here is how to turn off [Cellular Data Switching] :
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Cellular]
  2. Tap [Cellular Data]
  3. Make sure [Allow Cellular Data Switching] is turned OFF.
You can also check with your domestic carrier and subscribe to any ”Blocked charged international roaming” services.

Can I get a refund after using eSIM?

If you have already data usage, we can’t process a refund, since we can’t restore or resell eSIM once it is installed. If you are facing any problems while using it, please don’t hesitate to contact us via admin@esimfox.com so that we can help you better.
How do I know whether I am using a new eSIM or my original SIM?

Please check which eSIM profile you’ve selected on your device setting.

For Apple Users:
Here’s how:
  1. Go to [Setting] – Select [Cellular/Mobile Data] – Tab [Cellular Data]
  2. Select your eSIM profile
If you want to turn on both the new eSIM and your original (primary) SIM, please toggle off “turn on the Automatic Cellular Data Switching” on [Cellular Data]. 
Otherwise, it will automatically change you to the original SIM when the secondary eSIM you added from us doesn’t work and charge international roaming fees from your domestic carrier.

To use the new eSIM surely, please turn off the Primary eSIM’s SIM profile by toggling off ‘Turn On This Line‘.

Here’s how:
  1. Go to [Setting] – Select [Cellular/Mobile Data] – In the ‘Cellular Plans’ section, tab your SIM profile
  2. Toggle off ‘Turn On This Line’.

How can I check the balance or remaining data?

Please contact us at admin@esimfox.com to determine the exact data usage for your specific plan. However, you can check approximate data usage on your device’s Settings. The process differs based on your device’s manufacturer:
For Apple Users:
  1. Go to [Settings]
  2. Navigate to [Cellular/Mobile Data]
  3. he amount of data used can be found under “Current Period Roaming”.
  4. Alternatively, you can visit the Apple website here for more detailed instructions. Another option is to dial 1019# and place a call to see your data usage.
For Samsung Devices:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections]
  2. Tap [Data usage]
  3. The amount of mobile data you have used will be displayed.
  4. Alternatively, you can also dial 1019# and call to check your data usage.
For Google Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Network & Internet] – [Internet]
  2. Next to your operator, tap [Settings]
  3. At the top, you’ll see the total data you have used.
Can I scan the same QR code with multiple phones?

No. You can’t scan the same QR code on multiple devices. 
In addition, one QR code can’t be scanned multiple times. 
The scan will not work if the number of scans exceeds the limits.
Can the QR code be reissued after deleting?

In most of the case, No. 
The same eSIM plan can’t be reissued with another QR code. 
This is why we strictly forbid removal of the eSIM plan while it is in use. 
If you are facing a connection problem, please don’t delete the plan – instead, contact us admin@esimfox.com to solve the problem.
How can I disable the eSIM plan while it is in use?

You can disable the eSIM temporarily. 
If you disable the eSIM plan instead of removing it, you can enable and reuse it later.
However, please note that the validity can’t be changed once it is activated.

For Apple Users:
  1. How to disable the eSIM plan : Go to [Settings] – [Cellular] 
  2. Tap [Secondary] (the eSIM plan you’ve added) 
  3. Tap [Turn On This Line] to be OFF

How do I set APN?

If you installed an eSIM plan that has access to APN manual setting, please follow the instructions provided here to enter the APN information in your device manually.
You must contact us via admin@esimfox.com for the APN information.
For Apple Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Cellular] 
  2. In Data Plans, select your eSIM profile 
  3. When the profile is on, go to [Mobile Data Network] 
  4. Type the APN information in the all APN fields.
For Samsung Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections] 
  2. Tap [Mobile network] – [Access Point Names (or Advanced, then APN)] 
  3. Click “Adding the New APN” 
  4. Type the APN information and save 
  5. Select the APN you just created 
  6. Restart the device
For Google phones:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Network & Internet] – [Mobile network] 
  2. In Mobile network, scroll to the bottom and select [Access Point Names] 
  3. Choose the APN info if it’s listed. If not available, tap the menu button and tap [New APN] 
  4. Type the APN information in the APN field 
  5. Select the APN you just created 
  6. Restart the device
How can I remove the eSIM plan after use?

We don’t recommend removing the eSIM plan while it is in use or after use. However, if you want to remove the eSIM, please follow the steps below. (The name of the button can be something similar depending on the device)

For Apple Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Cellular] – tap on the eSIM plan you would like to remove from the list 
  2. Tap [Remove Cellular Plan].
For Samsung Users:

  1. 1Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [SIM card manager] 
  2. Select a plan on eSIM that you want to remove 
  3. Toggle the switch to disable the eSIM 
  4. Tap Remove.

For Google phones:
  1. Go to [Settings] 
  2. Tap [Network & internet] – [Mobile network] 
  3. Select the eSIM you want to delete 
  4. Tap Delete SIM
What should I do, when I can’t use internet after installation?

If you installed it well, but cannot access the internet, please try the troubleshooting below. Also, please DO NOT remove the eSIM, since our eSIM cannot be reinstalled or regenerated.

For Apple Users:

A. Please check that if you turn on the “Data Roaming” for the line that you just added 
B. Please check that if you select your eSIM profile on [Cellular Data]:
  1. Go to [Setting] – Select [Cellular/Mobile Data] – 
  2. Tab [Cellular Data] Select your eSIM profile
C. Manually perform Network Selection:
  1. Go to [Setting] – Select [Cellular/Mobile Data] 
  2. Among Data Plans, select your eSIM profile (“Secondary”/”Travel”) 
  3. Choose [Network selection] 
  4. Deactivate the automatic mode in order to perform a manual search 
  5. When the list of available networks is displayed, select the name of telecom in the country in which you are located
For Samsung Users:

A. Please check that if you turn on the “Data Roaming” for the line that you just added 
B. Please check that if you select your eSIM profile on [Mobile Data]:
  1. Go to [Setting] – Select [Connections] – Tab [SIM card manager] 
  2. On ‘Preferred SIM card’ section, select your eSIM profile for [Mobile Data]

C. Manually perform Network Selection:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [Mobile networks] – [Network operators] 
  2. Tap on eSIM at the bottom to access the network functions for our eSIM 
  3. Disable automatic mode and Tap [OK] to start a network search 
  4. Once the search is enabled, the list of available networks will be displayed after a few seconds 
  5. Select the network applicable to the country you are in.
For Google Users:

A. Please check that if you turn on the “Data Roaming” for the line that you just added 
B. Please check that if you select your eSIM profile on [Mobile Data]:
  1. Go to [Setting] – Select [Connections] – Tab [SIM card manager] 
  2. On ‘Preferred SIM card’ section, select your eSIM profile for [Mobile Data]
C. Manually perform Network Selection:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Network & Internet] – [Mobile networks] – [Network operators] 
  2. Click on eSIM at the bottom to access the network functions for our eSIM 
  3. Disable automatic mode and click OK to start a network search 
  4. The list of available networks will be displayed after a few seconds 
  5. Select the network in the country you are in 
  6. Restart the device
Error : Unable to Complete Data Plan Change. Your data plan could not be set up. Try again later.

If you see the message “Unable to Complete Data Plan Change. Your data plan could not be set up. Try again later,” it usually indicates that the connection to download the eSIM plan was disrupted. 
Your device needs a stable and unrestricted internet connection to request and download the eSIM profile from the LPA server for the first time. 
So try adding the eSIM plan manually while you are connected to a good Internet network. The most recommended installation method is scanning the QR code. 
However, if you experience issues scanning the QR code, you may enter details manually.

For Apple Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Cellular/Mobile Data] – [Add Cellular Plan/eSIM] – [Scan QR code] – [Enter Details Manually] 
  2. Enter ‘SM-DP+ Address’ and ‘Activation Code’ information provided in the email 
  3. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation
For Samsung Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [SIM Card Manager] – [Add a Mobile Plan] 
  2. Go to [Scan Carrier QR code] – Tap [Enter Activation code] 
  3. Type the ‘Activation Code’ that is provided in the email 
  4. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation.
For Google Users:

  3. Tap on [Enter Data Manually] 
  4. Type the ‘Activation Code’ that is provided in the email 
  5. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation

What should I do, when the speed is too slow?

Speed is dependent on coverage, congestion, or prioritization of the local carrier. 
However, if you experience slow network speeds, please try the troubleshooting below.

For Apple Users:
A. Manually perform Network Selection:
  1. Go to [Settings] – Select [Cellular/Mobile Data] 
  2. In Data Plans, select your eSIM profile (“Secondary”/”Travel”) 
  3. Choose [Network selection] 
  4. Deactivate the automatic mode in order to perform a manual search 
  5. When the list of available networks is displayed, select the name of telecom in the country in which you are located.
B. Reset the network connection:
  1. Turn on Airplane Mode on your phone, wait for 15 seconds 
  2. Turn off Airplane Mode to reset the network connection.
C. Set the device to 3G temporarily.
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Mobile Data] 
  2. In “Data Plans”, select your eSIM profile 
  3. Tap [Voice & Data] 
  4. select 3G temporarily
For Samsung Users:

A. Manually perform Network Selection.
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [Mobile networks] – [Network operators] 
  2. Click on eSIM at the bottom to access the network functions for our eSIM 
  3. Disable automatic mode and click OK to start a network search 
  4. The list of available networks will be displayed after a few seconds 
  5. Select the network in the country you are in Restart the device.
B. Reset the network connection.
  1. Turn on Airplane Mode on your phone, wait for 15 seconds 
  2. Turn off Airplane Mode to reset the network connection.
C. Set the device to 3G temporarily.
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [Mobile networks] 
  2. Tap [Network mode] 
  3. Select 3G temporarily.
For Google Pixel Users:
A. Manually perform Network Selection.
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Network & Internet] – [Mobile networks] – [Network operators] 
  2. Click on eSIM at the bottom to access the network functions for our eSIM 
  3. Disable automatic mode and click OK to start a network search 
  4. The list of available networks will be displayed after a few seconds 
  5. Select the network in the country you are in 
  6. Restart the device
B. Reset the network connection.
  1. Turn on Airplane Mode on your phone, wait for 15 seconds 
  2. Turn off Airplane Mode to reset the network connections.
C. Set the device to 3G temporarily.
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Network & Internet] – [Mobile networks] 
  2. Select [Advanced] – Tap [Preferred network type] 
  3. Select 3G temporarily
What should I do, when I see the “Activating” status while installing an eSIM before arriving at the destination?

If you see “activating” status, it will be automatically set up when you arrive at your destination. 
When you arrive at your destination, please check the following below, so that you can use your data successfully. 
Also, please don’t remove the plan since it can’t be reissued or reinstalled after deleting the eSIM. After you arrived at your desination, please check the following : 

A. Please check if you turn on the “Data Roaming” for the line that you just added 
B. Reset the network connection & Restart your device.

Reset the network connection by turning on Airplane Mode for 15 seconds and turning it off again. 
This will reset the network connection. 
Also, restart your device. 
Please note that the eSIM plan’s validity starts as soon as you scan and install the QR code.

Error : The eSIM card cannot be activated right now please try again later.

If you see the message “The eSIM card cannot be activated right now please try again later,” it indicates that the QR code was partially scanned due to poor connection. 
So try adding the eSIM plan manually while connected to a good network connection. 
The most recommended installation method is scanning the QR code. 
However, if you experience issues scanning the QR code, you may enter details manually.

For Apple Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Cellular/Mobile Data] – [Add Cellular Plan/eSIM] – [Scan QR code] – [Enter Details Manually] 
  2. Enter ‘SM-DP+ Address’ and ‘Activation Code’ information provided in the email 
  3. Once your device start activation instructions, follow them to complete the installation.
For Samsung Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [SIM Card Manager] – [Add a Mobile Plan]

Error : Data Plan Cannot Be Added. This code is no longer valid. Contact your network provider for more information.

If you see the message “Data Plan Cannot Be Added. This code is no longer valid. Contact your network provider for more information,” it indicates that you are trying to add an eSIM plan that has been added before or the QR code was partially scanned due to poor connection.
 
Please check:
  • Whether you have a good network or WiFi connection .
  • Whether the eSIM has not been added before.
  • Whether your device has too many eSIM profiles.
The most recommended installation method is scanning the QR code. However, if you experience issues scanning the QR code, you may enter details manually.

For Apple Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Cellular/Mobile Data] – [Add Cellular Plan/eSIM] – [Scan QR code] – [Enter Details Manually]

Error : Invalid Activation Code. The activation code you are attempting to use is not valid. Contact your network provider for more information.

If you see the message “Invalid Activation Code. The activation code you are attempting to use is not valid. Contact your network provider for more information,” it indicates that the QR code is not valid. Please contact us via admin@esimfox.com for the further assistance.
Error : Cellular Plans from This Carrier Cannot Be Added. Your device can only use cellular plans from a different carrier.

If you see the message “Cellular Plans from This Carrier Cannot be Added. Your device can only use cellular plans from a different carrier,” you probably have a locked phone.
You need to contact the domestic carrier that supplied your phone to you and ask them to unlock the device. 
eSIM only works on an unlocked phone. Please follow the instructions if you want to check if your device is unlocked or not.
For Apple Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [General] – [About] and swipe down 
  2. If you can find “Network Provider Lock – No SIM restrictions” and “Digital SIM – IMEI (number will appear)” your phone is compatible with eSIM 
  3. If you find “SIM restrictions”, your phone doesn’t support eSIM
Samsung & Google Users:
  1. Go to [Settings] – [Connections] – [Mobile networks] 
  2. Select [Networks operators] 
  3. If available networks appear, the phone is probably unlocked 
  4. If only one result comes back from the network search, or if the Search Networks option is unavailable in the Networks menu, then the phone is most likely locked to the carrier
